Abstract

An unprecedented silver-centered P-tetracapped [Ag@Ag <subscript>4</subscript> (μ <subscript>3</subscript> -P) <subscript>4</subscript> ] tetrahedron inscribed within a N <subscript>12</subscript> icosahedral cage has been discovered in the novel family of luminescent clusters. The latter are easily self-assembled by reacting Ag <superscript>I</superscript> salts with tris(2-pyridyl)phosphine (Py <subscript>3</subscript> P).
