Abstract

Objective: To establish molecular method for identification of Ilex plants using the internal transcribed spacer(ITS) bar- code.<br />Methods: DNA was extracted using centrifugal columnar kits. The ITS sequences of all experimental samples were amplified and sequenced using a pair of universal primers. The alignment and the phylogenetic tree were performed in MEGA5. 0.<br />Results: The length of ITS sequence in each species was 759 bp,in which there were 216 sites discrepancy.<br />Conclusion: DNA barcoding technology based on ITS sequence can be used to identify plants of Ilex genus.
