Abstract

Fetal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a useful adjunct to ultrasound in the evaluation of neural tube defects. The development of ultrafast imaging techniques has contributed to the increasing clinical use of fetal MRI. This review summarizes the utility, safety and technical aspects of fetal MRI and the role it plays in the evaluation of myelomeningocele. Emphasis is placed on the benefit of fetal MRI as it pertains to presurgical planning and perinatal management.<br /> (© 2014 S. Karger AG, Basel.)
