Abstract
- Although a fibrin sheath occurs in most long-standing central venous catheters, they do not typically interfere with complete removal of the catheter. We present 2 cases of long-standing catheters that could not be removed with simple surgical techniques because of endotheliazation via fibrous attachments to the venous wall. Both catheters were successfully removed using a modified snare technique through the right femoral vein.<br /> (Copyright © 2011 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.)
