Abstract
- The author describes his first-hand experience of a technique to keep patients with a suprapubic catheter free from urine leakage. He modified a suprapubic catheter by adding an external phalange to secure the catheter and balloon placement within the bladder. To date, this modification has prevented leakage around the catheter site for all patients in which it was used. In a followup article, the author will explain how he obtained a patent for the new design and worked with companies to manufacture the new product.
