Abstract
- An integrative approach to the therapeutic management of dyspepsia and ulcers may offer patients the best opportunity for resolution of disease and symptoms. Although antibiotics play a key role in the eradication of H Pylori infections, adding supplements appears to offer an edge in supporting overall gastric health. In addition to the aforementioned prescriptive antibiotic regimens, the use of supplements in the treatment of ulcers can improve healing rates and decrease the rate of recurrence. Effective digestion must strike a balance between the secretion of caustic acids and the maintenance of the mucosal epithelium. Much of the literature on this topic is limited to small studies and animal studies, but it indicates that a complementary approach to dyspepsia may help to preserve our natural gastric environments and prevent significant morbidity and mortality.
