Abstract: The production of the bundle-forming pilus subunit BfpA was investigated in 44 enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC) diarrheal isolates after growth on several conventional bacteriological media. In all, the use of brucella agar supplemented with 4.5 mM sodium bisulfite resulted in a higher detection of BfpA-producing EPEC.
