Abstract
- The article discusses the representations of the age of mechanical reproduction in the novels "Dracula" by Bram Stoker and "Le Chateau des Carpathes." Topics covered include how "Le Chateau des Carpathes" evokes the uncanny aspects of modernity in its portrayal of the Baron Rodolphe de Gortz's compulsive listening to a personal phonograph recording and the triumph of the simulacrum in both "Dracula" and "Le Chateau."
