Abstract

The title complex, {[Cu(phen)(Ts-gly)(H2O)](Ts-gly)}n, where Ts-gly = N-p-Tolylsulfonyl-glycine and phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, was synthesized and its crystal structure was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. The copper ion is in a slightly distorted square-pyramidal geometry and is coordinated by two N(N1, N2) atoms of 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and one O1 atom of water molecular and one O2 atom of Ts-gly ion, and a weak-coordination O3A atom of adjacent Ts-gly ion. The complex shows a one-dimensional zigzag chain bridged by the weak key role Cu-O3A. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
