The article discusses the value of animal feeding trials based on in vitro and in silico approaches for the risk assessment of genetically modified plants (GMPs). It highlights the increase transparency for the European Uninon (EU)-funded projects for risk assessment and communication of evidence in food toxicity. It mentions the use of animals to allow the search for biomarkers in conjunction with pathophysiological analysis of food toxicity.
