Abstract
- Trust is essential for interorganizational relationships, but there has been little research on triads i.e. relationships between among three actors. This study proposes a conceptual model for trust in triadic interorganizational relationships, based on an in-depth literature review. Knowledge of interpersonal and interorganizational trust in triads, and of aspects related to the influence of third parties, provides a consistent basis for advancement towards triads. The application of the theories about triads from Sociology, based on this concept, complements and shed light on the formulation of proposals and the establishment of a preliminary conceptual model for trust in interorganizational triads. As in diads, inter-organizational trust in triads plays an important role in building and maintaining partnerships, in the development of cooperative behaviors between parties, and in performance improvement and satisfaction with the relationship. In triads, however, the contribution of trust is greater, and can potentiate or reduce the benefits of balance/ imbalance, and of the structural properties of the triad. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
