Abstract
- A novel lanthanide coordination polymer, (H 2 pipz) 3 [Tb 2 (pydc) 6 ]·15H 2 O ( 1 ) (where pipz = piperazine and H 2 pydc = pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid), has been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, element analysis and thermogravimetric analysis. The most interesting structural feature of 1 consists in the occurrence of one-dimensional infinite water chains made up of novel (H 2 O) 20 clusters. 1 is extended into a three-dimensional supramolecular network structure via an extensive net of hydrogen bonds together with π–π stacking interactions. In addition, 1 was demonstrated to display a green fluorescence emission in the solid state at room temperature. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
