Abstract

An interview with University of British Columbia research director Dominique Weis on multiple-collector inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (MC-ICP-MS) in 2014 is presented. When asked on the plus and minuses of MC-ICP-MS, she replies that it can simultaneously collect masses, but is slow for wide-range scanning. Weis states that analyte-matrix chemical separation removes spectral effects. She notes the critical role of MC-ICP-MS in tracing the fate of metals in the environment.
