Abstract: The article presents a study on the effectiveness of simvastatin in preventing exacerbations in a large, multicenter, randomized trial, Topics discussed include patients excluded in the study, a comparison of the low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels in the simvastatin-treated patients and those who received placebo, and the number of nonfatal serious adverse events per person-year.
