Abstract

The article addresses the problem of fruit and vegetable growers with thrips infected with tomato spotted wilt virus (TSW V). It explains how thrips are infected with TSW V as they feed on weeds in fields around the greenhouse. Among the symptoms of TSW V are tiny spots on the upper leaves of tomatoes and yellow or green ring spots in fruits. Tips to prevent TSW V are suggested including weed control, scouting regularly fro thrips, and removal of plants that exhibit TSW V symptoms.
