Abstract
- The article discusses the strong performance of U.S. municipal bonds during 2014. Through late October municipal securities had outperformed both the Dow Jones Industrial Average and highly-rated corporate bonds. Demand for municipal bonds has been aided by a reduction in bond issues by U.S. states, and higher taxes which increase the appeal of municipals' tax-exempt status.
