Abstract
- The article presents information on a study conducted on the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), introduced in England and Wales to protect the interests of people suffering from learning disabilities, dementia and neurological conditions. Under the DoLS, whenever a hospital or a care home believes somebody in their care may be deprived of their liberty, they should apply to the local authority in order to get an authorization to detain them.
