Human or Hobbit?

The article discusses an ongoing debate regarding the discovery of a new human species that lived as recently as 17,000 years ago at a site on the Indonesian island of Flores known as LB1, called Homo floresiensis, also known as the hobbit. An argument by Maciej Henneberg in the August 2014 issue of the journal "Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA" that the H. floresiensis is not a new species of human, but a Homo sapien individual with Down syndrome, is presented.
