- An essay is presented which focused on an article by Hastings Rashdall on casuistry, which is defined as attempt to resolve moral questions raised by an appeal to general moral principles. It cited several issues that may not have been foreseen by Rashdall including the rise of secular discipline of applied ethics and employment of moral philosophers at hospitals. Also described is a suggested model by Rashdall which illustrates the ideal role of a moral philosopher.
