Behavioral Perspectives toward Hand Hygiene Promotion.

The author reflects on the behavioral aspects of hand hygiene (HH) compliance among medical personnel. Topics discussed include the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) on HH, which has five components, including system change, education of healthcare personnel and performance feedback, and the importance of an individual's perceptions on HH compliance. Also mentioned is a research which assessed the improvement in adherence and in perception and attitude regarding HH.
