Abstract

The article discusses the development of massive open online courses (MOOCs), focusing on predictions for MOOCs after an initial period of hype for their role in higher education. Topics addressed include the use of MOOCs as a supplement to formal classroom learning, as well as consideration of the timing and availability of MOOC courses.
