Abstract

The article discusses development of fingolimod, oral drug for treatment of multiple sclerosis that is suggested to suppresses pro-inflammatory effects and improve neuroprotective effects in astrocytes. Topics discussed include action on lymphocytes, reverse transcription polymerase chain reactions and intercellular adhesion molecule-1. IL Interleukin, histocompatibility complex and tumor necrosis factor are mentioned.
