A conference paper on mining and the community consultation movement in Latin America, presented at the Western Political Science Association conference in Portland, Oregon in March 2012. Topics discussed include efforts of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women, role of the International Labor Organization (ILO) and environmental damage due to the existence of the Río Blanco mining project in Perú.
