Abstract

The article discusses studies that argue for and against the claim that survival rates in critically ill patients with cancer increased. Topics discussed include a comparison in the survival rates of patients with cancer, severe sepsis and septic shock, argument that survival rates are based on studies performed in heterogeneous populations from different experiences and cultures and survival benefits from earlier and better supportive care provided to patients with less comorbidities.
