Structural Properties of the Meniscal Roots.

The article discusses a study which examined the failure strengths, stiffness, and attachment areas of the native posterior medial, posterior lateral, anterior medial, and anterior lateral meniscal roots compared with the meniscal root attachment after sectioning of supplemental fibers. Topics covered include the failure of surgical techniques for meniscal root tears to reestablish biomechanical properties of the repaired tissue, the collection of tissue specimen, and results of the study.
