- The article responds to the issue article "The Making of Higher Education Inequality: How Do Mechanisms and Pathways Depend on Competition?" by Tony Tam and Jin Jiang, which replied to the author's article "The Evolution of Class Inequality in Higher Education: Competition, Exclusion, and Adaptation" in volume 74, issue 5 of the journal. Topics include class stratification in U.S. higher education from 1972 to 1992, the impact of standardized test scores on college admissions, and the impact of college education on wages.
