Abstract

The article presents a case study of a 47-year-old woman who reported an 18-month-old pretibial rash her left shin during a routine office visit. She was diagnosed with necrobiosis lipoidica, an inflammatory skin disorder of unknown cause, occurring three times more often in females than in males. The disease typically involves the shins, ankles, and feet and it occurs in less than 1% of all diabetic patients.
