Abstract
- A criticism is presented of the English 1667 poem "Annus Mirabilis: The Year of Wonders, 1666. An Historical Poem" by John Dryden. An overview of the poem's depiction of sacrilege against the Christian God, including the sacrilege of sailors, is provided. The poem's portrayal of the economic power of the empire of Great Britain during the second half of the 17th century, including in regard to the Second Anglo-Dutch of 1665-1667, is discussed.
