NOVAS PERSPECTIVAS PARA A RESPONSABILIDADE SOCIAL UNIVERSITÁRIA: REFLEXÃO SOBRE O PROJETO DE EDUCAÇÃO POPULAR E APOIO À SAÚDE DA FAMÍLIA - UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DA PARAÍBA.

The following paper presents a reflection on the extension action developed by the Popular Education and Family Health Support Project (PEPASF) from the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), which purpose is to emphasize the university social responsibility (USR) character of the same institution on the context. Based on the perspective of Chilean USR literature, as well as direct examination of Maria de Nazaré Community (João Pessoa, Paraíba, Brazil) analyzes values and principles practiced by PEPASF which corroborate to the community human development, as well as people who are part of the institution. It is concluded that the university is capable to develop a social contract beyond local human development, especially when it concerns about national interest, exerting USR in other social dimensions that might be relevant for the nation advance in a worldwide spectrum, such as politics, economical and, firstly, scientific actions.
