Research growth and development at Sambalpur University during 2008-2012: a bibliometric analysis.

Sambalpur Univesity (SU) was started functioning from 1st January, 1967 in the Odisha State. The university imparting study and research through 27 post-graduate departments in disciplines of Science, Humanities, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Law and Commerce. The present study aims to study the research performance of SU's publications that have been indexed in Scopus during 2008 to 2012. The study also identifies the annual growth of university publication, authorship pattern, author productivity, degree of collaboration, length of paper published, most prolific contributor, prolific institution/organization, geographical distribution etc. Lotka's law of scientific productivity was used to determine the author's productivity and Bradford's is law used to determine scattering of literature in the publication pattern of the university during the period under study.
