What justifies a hospital admission at the end of life? A focus group study on perspectives of family physicians and nurses.

Abstract

The article presents a study that analyzes the perspective of nursing home, hospitals and home care as well as of family physicians on hospital admissions at end of life and the circumstances by which they can be justified. The study is conducted through the use of focus groups consist of participants who regard death at home or in the nursing home as the most preferable outcome. The results of the study reveal the situations identified as situations where hospital admission is justified.
