Abstract
- The article presents an essay on the political philosophy of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and conservatism chosen by a panel of judges as the winner of a competition sponsored by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute. The author discusses the principles of order, justice and freedom aimed at illuminating the political philosophy of Thatcherism. The principle of order, in Thatcher's vision would shape and maintain the civil social order. Her vision of justice emanates from a solid Methodist upbringing of equality. Finally, freedom in the Thatcherite tenet means the right of individuals and nations to self-determination.
