Abstract
- This article deals with the 1996 audit report of the Advertising Council which revealed that support is up for the Council's public service announcements (PSA). The Council reported that it benefited from $928 million in donated media time in 1996. However, while reporting increases in time provided in radio, the Web, newspapers, business press and local TV, the group said that it lost share for outdoor and network TV. This lost has prompted Alex Kroll, chairman of Ad Council, to urge the TV networks to devote one minute of time a night to PSA. And the U.S. Federal Communications Commission is mandating the Council's plea.
