Abstract
- Describes a telematics-based program in Bristol, England which aim to find ways traffic numbers can be restrained on days when air quality in the city is poor. Use of in-vehicle units and smart cards to charge volunteer motorists a higher sum to enter the city when pollution reaches dangerous levels; Intelligent traffic systems (ITS) as the most effective way of reducing traffic congestion and pollution.
