- Informs that New York City has removed the entire staff of the Bronx's New Day shelter for battered women. The only shelter for battered women run directly by the city; Dismissals after Department of Investigation found workers' sex abuse of the women; Other corrupt practices found, including use of drugs and alcohol on the job, and allowing abusive husbands and boyfriends into the shelter at night.
