Abstract

A new bimetallic inorganic-organic hybrid {[Ru(phen)](PbI)} (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) ( 1) with its (PbI) polymeric iodoplumbate templated by ruthenium complex [Ru(phen)], has been structurally determined. 1 is the rare example of mixed-metal iodoplumbate containing photochemically active coordination cation. The 1-D (PbI) chain is constructed from edge-sharing of neighboring 2 × 3 PbI units. C-H···I hydrogen bonds among (PbI) inorganic anions and [Ru(phen)] counteractions contribute to the formation of a 2-D layer.
