Abstract

Snoring is often perceived by the partner as annoying noise. It may also cause significant health issues. Snoring sound levels frequently exceed critical values of acceptable noise exposure. The need for therapy may therefore be justified in terms of the partner's requirements. Snoring sounds transport information more than those accessible to technical measurement. This information may intensify or reduce the annoying quality of the noise. Humans associate acoustic perceptions with affection, which have a feedback effect. Snoring of a loved one is perceived as less annoying than snoring of a person who is already a burden during wakefulness. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
