BİLGİ TOPLUMUNUN TEKNOLOJİK TEMELLERİ ÜZERİNE ELEŞTİREL BİR BAKIŞ.

Technology and society have always interacted with one another throughout the history. This interaction between the two has led to some significant changes in the world. Developed each new technology in the society has been accompanied a new revolution such as the Agricultural Revolution, Industrial Revolution and Informatics Revolution. The latest one took place in the world; Informatics Revolution has emerged as a result of the developments in information and communication technologies (ICT). The structure of modern society has also turned into the information society by undergoing change in company with IT revolution. Consequently, ICT began to be perceived as the main factor in the transition of the information society. Here in this research, is discussed the role of ICT in the construction of information society. This study has been carried out on basis of a literature review and assessment upon the theories of post-industrial society that deals with the emergence of information society. According to the results of this theoretical analysis, it was found that the construction of information society is a complex societal process which will not be able to explain by only the extent of technological factors. Within the scope of the study results, the research assumption which propounds that the information society rose as a result of the interaction between society and information technologies was proved.
