Abstract

The article introduces papers on the importance of tree and forest biology research in Canada, including a review of the effects of light levels on hydraulic architecture of temperate trees, an examination of leaf physiology in black cottonwood and balsam poplar and a paper on the future of boreal forest growth in line with rising atmospheric carbon dioxide levels.
