The article responds to the article "Renunciation as Pedagogy" by Vanessa R. Sasson in the same issue. Topics include the role of grades and grading in higher education, the social and economic conditions of college students, and the roles of feedback and editing in university and college classes. College student motivation is addressed in relation to learning.
