Abstract
- Presnts the results of a study of the cortical neurons used by the Jamaican mustached bat in interpreting time-delayed echoes from an emitted biosonar pulse. The conclusion that these neurons improve information processing in the inferior colliculus (IC) by way of the corticocollicular projection; The use of electronic stimulation to the bat's cortical neurons; Adjustments in the long-term changes in the overall function of the IC, medial geniculate body, and auditory cortex.
