Abstract

The article focuses on lawlessness and abuses of police power in Kenya. It states that summary execution of Kenyan criminals is common and mentions that victims of crimes can pay corrupt policemen to shoot criminals on arrest. It comments that political violence has increased in Kenya and talks about an increase in terrorism including a four-day siege at the Westgate shopping center in Nairobi which led at least 67 dead. It reflects on the election of Uhuru Kenyatta as president in 2013.
