Deciphering Multiplication Algorithms with the Area Model.

The article focuses on the use of Russian peasant multiplication and Egyptian multiplication by prospective teachers to address the quantitative and qualitative relationships between standard algorithms and alternative algorithms. It informs that the teachers on the basis of the area models provide reasoning for each step of the algorithms.
