Abstract

The article discusses a study on evaluating the association of soft tissue knee injury with osteochondral fracture and increased degree of acute joint inflammation. Aspiration of synovial fluid (SF) from the acutely injured knee was conducted followed by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for analysis of secreted protein acidic and rich in cysteine (SPARC), osteocalcin and cytokines. Conclusions indicated association of high degree of joint inflammation in injured knee with hemarthrosis.
