Abstract

The article discusses the global adoption of electronic commerce (e-commerce) as of 2002, with a focus on strategies for expanding the access to the Internet and e-commerce in developing nations by examining socioeconomic and cultural traits of developing countries. Topics include the increasing number of U.S. companies doing business online; the growth of corporate websites for small businesses; and the expansion of the Internet industry, the digital marketplace, and digital commercial activities outside of North America.
