Abstract

The article looks at the role of big data in warfare and military tactics, as of 2014. It discusses network-centric warfare theory, a doctrine developed by the U.S. Defense Department emphasizing the benefits of information technology (IT) and information systems (ISs) in conducting military operations. Topics include the incorporation of IT into military training and planning, decision making by military commanders, and the hierarchy from data to information to knowledge to wise action.
