Highlights: [•] The conversion efficiency of geothermal power plants is lower than all thermal plants. [•] Worldwide review of published data gave an average conversion efficiency of 12%. [•] A generic conversion relation was developed based on the total produced enthalpy. [•] Correlations are presented for single flash/dry steam, double flash and binary plants.
