Abstract

The article focuses on physician O.H. Frazier who recently implanted his 1,000th ventricular assist device on a patient with advanced heart failure. It is stated that it is only a small part of Frazier's contributions to the development of mechanical circulatory support (MCS) as a treatment for advanced heart failure although this is monumental and worthy of recognition.
