Abstract
- The article discusses the study done on the seamounts of the Mendeleev Ridge in the Arctic Ocean during the expedition Arktika-2012 that was carried out on the diesel icebreaker Kapitan Dranitsyn and research submarines of the Russian Ministry of Defense on September 8–21, 2012. Topics discussed include sampling of rocks done by dredges, gravity corers, and box-corers, incision of slope from submarine canyons and intervening ridges, and thickness of unconsolidated sediments on steep slopes.
