Abstract
- In order to study effects of promoters on hydrate formation, adopting a self-designed hydrate reaction system, influences of the tetrahydrofuran (THF) and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) on carbon dioxide hydrate formation were studied through experiments with constant temperature and volume. Hydrate formation rate, gas storage capacity and the apparent hydration number were calculated on the basis of real-time measurements of system temperature and pressure in the process of hydrate formation. The result showed that the suitable concentration of SDS can promote the dissolution of gas in the liquid phase, and improve the growth rate and gas storage density of hydrate. THF only had little effect on hydrate generation process. Compound additives SDS and THF working together could promote the hydrate formation importantly. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
